311 NETWORK GAINS REPUBLICAN NATIONAL CONVENTION AS NEWEST CLIENT
May 13, 2008 – 311 Network delivers a system that will help serve the 2008 Republican National Convention.
311 Network is a nationwide consortium of private industry call management firms that have joined together to deliver 3-1-1 call center services for local governments. The 3-1-1 number is a telephone code that provides the public with quick access to non-emergency government services through one point of contact.
This September, 311 Network will serve the Republican National Convention in Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN. When 3-1-1 is dialed by delegates or members of the media attending the convention, 311 Network's local affiliate, Time Communications, will answer questions regarding parking, transportation, venues, schedules, ID requirements, and other non-emergency questions.
Helping local governments contend with unusual call volumes, such as those created by conventions or special events, and helping rural areas offer the same 3-1-1 services that larger cities now provide were main reasons why 311 Network came into being. Michael Leibowitz, Co-founder of 311 Network, had this to say about this new high-profile client, "The Republican National Convention is a significant international event and we are pleased to be selected as the vendor to supply critical communications services. Our major accounts team, headed by Terri Morrin and Joseph Pearson, has worked hard to secure this relationship."
